Question & Answers / Headlight Restoration
What are my options on headlight restoration?
KARMAN offers two levels of headlight restoration. For newer vehicles with light haze, a simple machine polish is often enough to bring back clarity. For heavier sun damage or deeper oxidation, we can sand the headlights through multiple stages before finishing them with either a ceramic coating or a fresh lacquer for long‑lasting protection.
We’ll assess the condition of your headlights when quoting to make sure you get the right option for your car.
Can cloudy or yellowed headlights lead to an MOT failure?
Restoration helps ensure your lights are safe and road‑legal. Yes, this will save your car from potentially failing an MOT.
Will headlight restoration help night-time visibility?
Improve Night‑Time Visibility
Clearer headlights mean better light output, improving safety and visibility when driving at night.
Is KARMAN’s headlight restoration a better option than using a DIY revival kit?
Kits do have their place, but KARMAN’s system delivers far better and longer‑lasting results. We’ve invested thousands of pounds into professional‑grade equipment, compounds, sanding discs and polishing pads, allowing us to tackle everything from light haze to severe oxidation with far greater precision and consistency.
What causes the yellow haze effect on automotive headlights?
Sunlight and UV exposure are the main causes of headlight fading and yellowing. You’ll often notice that cars kept in a garage don’t suffer from the same level of cloudiness because they’re protected from constant UV damage.
